Sustainability Evaluation of Remedial Options for a Former Petroleum Depot Using GoldSET

Golder was asked to assess sustainable options for environmental management, and to restore the soil and groundwater at a former petroleum products depot.

Our Role

GoldSET (Golder Sustainability Evaluation Tool), a multi-criteria decision analysis tool that takes into account the environmental, social and economic impacts of a project, was used to assess options for environmental remediation. The sustainability assessment performed with GoldSET showed that bioremediation of soil using injection of super-oxygenated water was the most promising option in terms of sustainable development, resulting in a rapid elimination of impact on downstream sewer system, allowing for eventual residential use. Additionally, this option allows for low energy consumption and limited greenhouse gas emissions, while offering a highly positive R&D potential.
